Mark Kincaid was born and raised in San Diego, California. His musical life began when he started taking guitar lessons at age thirteen. Like many teens in the early 90's, he grew up listening to heavy metal and rock and roll. He spent his teen years playing in heavy metal bands, but his musical tastes began to change in his late teens and early 20's. He began listening to artists such as the Dave Matthews Band and Counting Crows. This new genre of music was a significant influence to Mark's playing style.
